Motorsport world governing bodies strengthen synergies!

General News - 7 April 2010 -- An historic first meeting of the four leading motorsport world governing bodies (FIA, FIM, FAI and UIM) took place on the 27th March at the Automobile Club de Monaco where common actions were discussed and agreement made to jointly focus on optimal use of resources and the reduction of noise and pollution.

The meeting, chaired by UIM President, Raffaele Chiulli,was attended by senior officers of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) and Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

“Sharing knowledge and best practices with other international motor sport federations and international institutions is pivotal to enhance environmental standards and achievements,” explains Dr Chiulli.

“We thank the FIA, FIM and FAI for their efforts and positive attitude. Working together will provide mutual value and benefits.”

During the meeting the UIM presented its Environmental Code, designed to promote environmental sustainable practices that

take account of social, cultural and ecological responsibilities, now and for future generations.

2009 Powerboat P1 World Champion Hannes Bohinc has given his backing to the initiatives currently being implemented. “This will serve not only to safeguard the sport, but also protect the environment and has my full support.” he commented.

The next joint operational meeting will be held in Arendal, Norway during mid July in conjunction with a round of the UIM Class1 World Powerboat Championship.
